MOHEIM OWN STORY vol.25

—— How do you feel about using multiple MOHEIM products?

I had never gone out of my way to buy an umbrella stand. But when I saw a BRICK STAND, I could see how it would fit into the space of my home. BRICK STAND is an item I like to see at the entrance as an umbrella stand. At the same time I feel like I want to have it close to me in the room, as something different. I wondered why, but it became clear to me when I learned the story behind the creation of BRICK STAND, its design intent, and most importantly, that it is a product designed by Wataru Kumano.MOS Kaori Nakamura BRICK STAND

The vases are made of glass or ceramics, which makes me cautious when I think about storage and moving. But SILHOUETTE easily solves this problem and at the same time fulfills my desire to use a variety of materials in one space. I love the way the accent color textiles are added to the plants, wood, ceramics, etc., making the space richer just by placing them there. I want to have all the colors.

And TIN BOX. I believe that tin cans are one of those things that everyone gets excited about, and the burgundy color I chose has a particularly “treasure box” feel to it. It is perfect for storing letters and other delicate items, but I use it to store samples used in my interior design work. It is an item that can store various things, can be used with different colors, and is exciting to open, yet still fits into everyday life.

—— What is important to you when selecting interior items?

I value the commitment to “not obsessing”.
That is, I do not “obsess” about brand names, artist names, or how they are arranged or combined after purchase. Even if I think, “Maybe it won’t fit in my house,” I give priority to my feelings and intuition. That is why there are some historical masterpiece stools and there are stones found in the sea in the same room.
I think it is very important that you are first attracted to the object itself in front of you, without going through the filter of information such as production background and concept, including the name of the designer of the object, which you will come to know someday.MOS Kaori Nakamura SILHOUETTE

—— Is there an aspect of creating a space, such as your own home or office, that you think is unique to you?

It is that it is always unfinished.
I am always thinking, “If I don’t have it, I’ll just make it,” and there are always items and combinations that interest me. So the process of a space that is in flux and changing day by day is probably what makes it unique to me.

—— What is your image or impression of MOHEIM as a brand?

While the image of sophistication with minimalism like SWING BIN, which symbolizes MOHEIM, comes to mind, at the same time there are many items where you can feel traditional techniques and craftsmanship on the back of the item. It is an impression that I can firmly feel the warmth in the neat coldness.

—— Are there any other MOHEIM products you are interested in besides the ones you use?

I am interested in YUKI wood, which can be used for a long time even if your taste or life changes, and LINDEN BOX, which can be used in a variety of ways.

—— Are there any items you would like to expect MOHEIM to produce?

Personally, I would like to see MOHEIM develop kitchen cutlery and cooking utensils.
I am also interested in how MOHEIM would incorporate household appliances, which are particularly difficult to integrate into a room.
