In November 2024 an auberge, “Kanshukuen ESHIKOTO,” was opened near Eiheiji Temple, the head temple of the Zen and Soto sect of Buddhism. It is adjacent to “ESHIKOTO,” a complex that conveys the rich culture of Fukui and Hokuriku through sake.
“Kanshukuen” means the joy of cherishing rare and precious encounters. It’s a place where the exclusive experience of sake, cuisine, and atmosphere connects people with happiness and fortune, creating moments of pure indulgence.

Your stay will be enhanced with great sake and cuisine, such as “Kokuryu,” a famous sake with a 220 year history and produced from the high-quality underground water of the Kuzuryu River which flows right in front of the auberge, as well as Fukui’s representative “Japanese Cuisine En” and the up-and-coming French restaurant “cadre.”
With a view of the rich natural beauty of Mt. Johoji and the Kuzuryu River, which changes its expression beautifully from season to season, you can experience Zen culture, traditional Echizen crafts, and an “authentic” Japan that you have not yet encountered.

Since its opening, the hotel has attracted a lot of attention from highly discerning guests who come to stay at the hotel and want to enjoy the local gastronomy and “Kokuryu” sake.
The guest rooms are supervised and have art curated by ceramicist and sculptor Koichi Uchida. Uchida, who has traveled the world and is well versed in “beauty,” from crafts to antiques to contemporary art, has created a space where you can feel his aesthetic sense.

The theme is “Adult” and “Authenticity.” The black color scheme echoes that of the adjacent ESHIKOTO, creating a sense of serenity and comfort
There are three types of villas, eight rooms in all. Each has a different concept, blending fine art from the old and the new, from Fukui’s representative antiques to works by modern and contemporary artists, as well as folk art from around the world. Once you settle into the space, you will be able to enjoy the world of “choice” that lies at the heart of our sense of beauty.

All rooms are equipped with a half-open-air bath where you can enjoy a hot spring. The bicarbonate spring water is known as the “hot spring of beauty” and the “hot spring of rejuvenation,” and is also attractive because it leaves your skin smooth after bathing.

Each room is equipped with MOHEIM’s SWING BINs, SHOEHORNs, and SIGNS.
Each room has a different concept, and is decorated with crafts, folk art, art deco, contemporary art, antiques, etc. MOHEIM items are also discreetly placed in the rooms to welcome guests to the villa.
