MOHEIM OWN STORY vol.32

—— How do you choose the interior items and decor for your home? Please also tell us what key points you value when making your selection.
While appearance and harmony with the overall space are important, even more than that, I am often captivated by the creation process and the maker’s intent. It is also essential to me to value that intuitive feeling of “I want this.”
—— When creating spaces like your home or office, are there aspects that feel uniquely “you”?
For my home, if I can’t relax there the most, it loses its purpose, so I want it to be a space without any tension. Being able to value a sense of comfort that only I understand, without worrying about rules or what others think, is something unique to my own home. Sometimes, items bought on different trips somehow just fit right next to each other, and I enjoy discovering those kinds of combinations.
—— Does your everyday life influence your interior decor?
Travel has a huge influence on me. My ideal is that as I age, I’ll be surrounded by items I’ve gathered little by little from around the world. I also love visiting my friends’ homes overseas and seeing spaces filled with things they each love, and I think I’ve been influenced by that way of living as well.

—— Please tell us why you chose the TISSUE COVER fog.
I was drawn to its natural color palette that seamlessly blends into any space, as well as its soft texture reminiscent of high-quality suede. Another charming detail is how it softens the rigid, sharp look of a standard tissue box. Since it’s something I use every day, the fact that it’s washable was also a big reason I selected it.

—— How do you like using the TISSUE COVER fog?
Since it’s reversible, you can choose to have the seams showing on the outside, but I prefer the slightly rounded shape it takes on when the seams are on the inside. Replacing the tissues is also easy because you simply open and close it using the snap buttons on the back.

——Are there any other MOHEIM items that have caught your eye?
I’m curious about the “GRAIN” mug, a new product made from recycled clay that was released this August. I really like the texture of the material, and I also find its sustainable craftsmanship appealing.
—— What is your image or impression of the MOHEIM brand?
MOHEIM is a brand that gives a sense of reliability rooted in solid craftsmanship, where you can feel a thoughtful attention to design down to the smallest detail. The sizes and color variations are also beautifully considered, leaving me with the impression that they cater to a wide range of spaces and uses.
—— In your work, you likely have occasions to choose MOHEIM items for your projects. Could you tell us why you select them?
There are countless options for hotel items, but it is important that each piece does not assert itself too strongly, allowing the space as a whole to come together harmoniously. What I find appealing about MOHEIM items is how they blend into a room almost like air, while still conveying a high level of refined design in every detail.
Additionally, when a product’s background aligns with the local character or concept of a hotel, taking that item as a center point allows us to share the story of its origin, the makers behind it, and their vision—which is another reason I choose them.
—— Thank you very much for your time. We hope you will enjoy using MOHEIM items for many years to come.
